Under The Island

The structure of the game is totally Zelda-like - everything from the overarching story (complete with mcguffins to collect), the levelling, the progression, the additional sidequests, the collectibles, the enemies, dungeon bosses and all the way through to the final boss - it all felt comfortingly familiar.

It made me nostalgic for a number of SNES/Game Boy titles, while maintaining a relatively unique identity as far as story, art and music go.

Combat didn't feel bad and learning the gimmicks of bosses using your inventory was fun, but there was *one* item which felt obviously snubbed with how little use it actually has.

I adored the art style, the character/enemy design, and the charming world they all inhabited.

The sound effects are definitely of the similar style of other games of the genre and the controls are responsive.

It's clearly inspired by the legend of Zelda series, and like Zelda it rewards curiosity and the difficulty isn't too punishing.
