What players think
The recurring themes across 211 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
As another installment in the long-running Mercenaries franchise, it builds upon the series' established formula by delivering strategic turn-based combat, extensive character growth, and a fantasy narrative driven by political conflict and personal conviction.
The game is simples but addictive: you're always on a loop of leveling up, unlocking and leveling up skills, try new classes, try to buy special magic weapons/equipment with puzzles pieces (that you can pick up in the battles, if you go out of the way to get them), etc.
Its compelling blend of strategic combat, flexible character customization, and politically driven storytelling creates an experience that rewards careful planning and long-term investment.
It's a pretty well done JRPG with nice graphics and animation, and the sound and music is decent too - albeit somewhat repetitive.
