There's pretty much no narrative stakes to any of it, so it creates the impression that all the characters have spontaneous amnesia the second they're done with it.
Unless you pick the option in the menus that reduces the grind significantly, the main gameplay loop consists in you gathering resources, gifts and learning skills to unlock more efficient ways to increase how much resources and skill points you gain to finally unlock the opportunity to “engage in an adult activity” with the women in the game.
