Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway™

The story, penned by Mikey Neumann – who also wrote Road to Hill 30, Earned in Blood, and Borderlands, and is lately of FilmJoy on Youtube – is solidly crafted and has far more heart and meaning in its war-is-hell narrative than can be found in any infinite number of the Spielberg pastiches seen in other World War II shooters.

TL;DR: Hell’s Highway remains a worthwhile game, especially at its under-$5 sale prices, with fun and refreshing core mechanics and commendable writing hampered by technical issues.

The graphics, even ten years on, are serviceable, and the new slo-mo moments are a nice touch, if perhaps a bit too frequent.

The hallmark of the Brothers in Arms series has always been “authenticity” – the devs never call it “realism” – placing the focus on real squad tactics and lovingly-rendered weapons, uniforms, and locales.

Also the sound design is great and as the bullets fly over your head in cover and the enemies speaking correct German, which is a rare thing to see to be honest.

With all that said, I strongly recommend this game - the story is great, gameplay is generally good and no Ubisoft services make this game a must buy if you are into FPS or WW games!
