Graphics
Players who bring up Graphics mostly praise it.
There are so many flyables you're gonna think you found yourself in aviation heaven, from the turbo-dated early days models of the original IL-2 mod. 1943 to the latest expansion of the eponymous '1946' title, which features smooth, polished cockpit surfaces and even bump lighting.

Multiplayer
Players who bring up Multiplayer mostly praise it.
It's dirt cheap, it'll run on your PC, whichever one you have, it still has a very alive and well multiplayer scene, and CUP and assorted mods extend its lifespan into infinity and beyond.

Story and characters
Players who bring up Story and characters mostly praise it.
Campaign missions are fun, and there's also a dynamic campaign in which you can fly as bomber pilots, fighter pilots, and the likes.

Gameplay
Players who bring up Gameplay mostly praise it.
For coming out long ago it still holds up with very solid gameplay and lots of planes and factions and endless scenarios, pack full of content is what I'm trying to say.

Controls
Players who bring up Controls mostly praise it.
A heads up is that there is no mouse joy (you can't use a mouse to fly), that's fine for me because I have a joystick but you will need either that or a controller (if supported).

Servers and matchmaking
Players who bring up Servers and matchmaking mostly praise it.
Since the original servers are long gone, you will have to install third party software, personally I don't play multiplayer, but it is an option.
