I mean, sure the probability of me having to choose if I'll eat my best friend or my pet is very slim, but it did happened to people, for instance there's this story in 1972 when the Uruguayan rugby team crash in the Andes and they survived during 72 days eating the corpses of their fellow teammates and other passengers (though they did wait for people to actually die before consuming them).
I will say this had my favorite sound track of their entire library, but as a metal head I'm pretty biased.
