What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
Developed and published by FromLefcourt, Gunlocked successfully combines the fast-paced intensity of classic arcade space shooters with the addictive progression systems found in modern roguelite games.
Accompanying the visuals is an energetic electronic soundtrack paired with satisfying sound effects that reinforce every successful attack, defeated enemy, and newly acquired upgrade, helping each battle maintain its momentum from beginning to end.
Tight gameplay, decent hitboxes, well balanced difficulty, reasonable achievements, good weapon synergies / build potential, nice retro feel.
Plays very well on Steam Deck, although keyboard is still preferable for maximum precision.
Also, for those wondering, the game supports both controller (recommended) and mouse play.
It's an amazing gameplay loop and the Retry, or quit to menu to change after is so brilliant, that repeating a run with the same pilot, and modifiers is so quick and easy to repeat.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway.
