Retchid

The atmosphere is moody in all the right ways, combat feels juicy and satisfying, and the aesthetic is very pleasing to the eye.

Retchid will sadly most likely go unnoticed by many I fear in this busy month/year, it's a really fun moody methodical shooter with a sprinkle of survival horror mechanics mixed in, & it has a lot of attention to detail by a small (credits had 4 devs listed + 1 voice actor) independent team who are trying to do something a bit more rare & ambitious in the indie FPS space currently.

When combined with the dim lighting and claustrophobic level layouts, encounters with enemies often feel desperate and dangerous, which is exactly what the game is aiming for.

It might not have the budget of Nightdive & id to pump in a lot of money for fancy scripting & voice acting for audiologs, but it's got the heart, effort & also competence (yes that's a cheeky dig at System Shock, which I still loved despite the flaws) to make a really solid fun survival/action horror shooter that has a lot of potential to grow over early access.
