Kathy Rain: Director's Cut

The story and writing have been given plenty of attention, and drive the game through nicely.

The soundtrack has a good amount of variety while maintaining a level of consistency that makes it feel cohesive and suited to the game’s storyline and gameplay.

The mechanics of puzzle solving are very well done, and I appreciate the thought that has gone in to the player's quality of life.

Kathy Rain: Director’s Cut is presented in beautiful pixel art with atmospheric and often moody lighting, the colour palette favours muted and darker colours, with selective pops of vibrancy.

The characters are interesting and relatable (Go, Goober!!!), and the puzzle difficulty is largely just right.

The DC restructuring of the plot and additional scenes give Kathy a ton more character, make us feel like we’re guiding her and using her skills, and generally improve on the OG story telling by a country mile.
