Draft of Darkness

In terms of looks and atmosphere it’s pretty spot on to that PS1 era of survival horror, and if you find the default filters a bit too much there’s plenty of customisation options to get it to your particular optimum level of grunginess.

The context/gameplay is interesting, the story is pretty nice and combat is unique but MAN is it slow as hell.... this game is disrespectful of your time.... a single run where you achieve next to nothing can take easily over an hour simply because of how slow combat plays out...

There’s a lot available to unlock including characters, cards, weapons, equipment, and passive abilities.

I found the graphics nice to look at with some good options with framerate preference.

The sound design is excellent, with enemies making chilling and distinctive barks as the player gets near to them, and discordant music that gets more and more distressing (and less and less music-like) the deeper into the game the player gets.

The game does little to soften these moments, embracing its difficulty as a core part of its identity.
