What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
TLDR: yes it's realistic (but in a historical way rather than what you may expect), the graphics are pretty enough, the sound greatly adds to the atmosphere, and interface is intuitive.
- You don't get disheartened if the game is not more than what it is, and this game is pretty much only about the battles, with campaigns being reduced to short preludes to battles, and character progression is none.
Fortunately, the game supports PBEM (play-by-email) multiplayer, where the true depth of strategy comes alive in human vs. human competition.

The graphics are extremely pleasing to me, and the sound effects are just as good.
DLC, wise, the price is often a tad steep but generally worth it given how much time you can spend on this game.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
