Kingdom Rush Vengeance - Tower Defense

Customizable tower loadouts and a modernized UI breathe fresh life into the formula, even if balance issues and a lack of endgame content still hold it back.

It is Kingdom Rush so if you played any of these games before then you know what to expect, beautifully whimsical art whether the character design or the background scenery, a few comedic moments as you play and a tight gameplay loop that can be unforgiving at higher difficulty levels.

Narration and dialogue carry a mix of drama and humor, echoing the series’ lighthearted, self-aware style that has become part of its charm.

Graphics here are only slightly better than KRO, but that slightly is enough to make it the best in the series, there’s a noticeable increase in fidelity, almost like something from a PS3 to PS4-era.

The presentation is in the fantastic KR style (which is something I hope never changes!) and the sound effects/voice-acting are as top notch as ever.

The game is very well done and works well on Linux, except that it wants to scrunch to the top 1/2 of the screen if I try to make it full screen.
