i did use hints rather a lot in the third game, but for the others i barely needed to... the puzzles flow effortlessly into each other and with a couple minutes of thinking, you have the solution. it's not too hard that it feels like you're bashing your head against the obscurity of it, but not so easy that you feel bored. the easy parts you do quickly make you feel like a professional, easily tossing and turning the parts. the harder puzzles are great, really making you think without feeling too laborious. also, the prop design - props to the art team, because the shape language in this game is great. the fact that i can look at the shape of the chimney piece for the house, with the semi circle and 3 hexagonal protrusions and immediately know that that piece is going to look like before i have it in my inventory, and then getting the piece and knowing exactly where it goes???
