Alisa, however also has a few smart modernizations and even features from later resident evil titles that enhance rather than detract from the experience, including a basic but functional dodge mechanic, a surprisingly robust melee combat system and a streamlined inventory that removes the need to repeatedly backtrack to storage locations to retrieve key items.

But it also has the gameplay to back those visuals up, and goes way beyond simply copying Resident Evil's design.

Despite these 2 major issues the game is beautiful, the map is fun to explore and to solve puzzles in, atmosphere is unique and gripping, music is fitting, and the story is enough to keep you interested.

The setting, the enemy design, even the weird voice acting - those aspects create this cool atmosphere similar to og RE1.

It nails the nostalgic graphics perfectly but that's as much credit as I can give it.

Monster and character design are likewise great; the monsters all use that creepy old-timey toy-based aesthetic very well, and the enemies are varried enough that you're never quite sure what you're going to come up against next.
