What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
This game is incredibly fun and the only thing I want to do is play it with a huge lobby of my friends, but sadly it's so expensive to ask each individual person to buy a game for $18 in order to fill up the lobby.
I think the devs thought this would be some big hit to take on bigger giants in the market, and instead it just dwindles in its very low playerbase, making the online part of the game (one that earns all the fancy cosmetics) a real chore - long and ridiculously unfair matchmaking (whilst not even filling up most spots in a match) ; brutally grindy season track (exponential curve, so first 10 levels is like one last) ; and a lot of cores and every single cosmetic tied to online progression only, so if you want to have fun by yourself trying to do better on some tracks solo (whilst looking fly), then be willing to invest a bunch of time into playing with others just to get bombarded by missles every 5 seconds, trying to finish some dumb daily missions like a good little sucker.
I have to appreciate the graphics, mechanics and production values of the game, it's very nicely put together using a nice balance of cartoony graphics and physics while forcing you to feel immersed - Rocket League-like - in the coliseum of competitiveness.
Update: Matchmaking works fine on my steam deck while above is what I get on my PC on the same network.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 3 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
