Story and characters

I loved how it mimicked Half-Life in that it doesn't hold your hand and you are just left to figure out the "story" by yourself as you play.

Gameplay

Particles are used wherever they can and look great too. wether to make a corridor more interesting and have more depth or to make the the beam of a teleporter. im probably the worst person to try and explain this so i wont but just know its great. the gameplay is great too. its mainly about shooting people in the face as you would imagine. guns feel satisfying to use and always have cool effects when firing. the base game doesn't have many weapons though. although the dlc for the game fixes that problem entirely.(and adds sandbox mod which ill talk about later) Vertigo has physics interactions which feels really nice although doesn't get used as much as it could but still meshes really nicely with the ik body and one time weapons.

The models and environment are simple, but visually pleasing and have a nice consistent art style.

Performance
Players who bring up Performance mostly praise it.
I played this after Vertigo 2, I heard a lot of people saying they thought this game was bad in comparison to the sequel but i truly believe it holds its own, it's short but sweet, the story is interesting, the gunplay is fun, there are a couple more issues in this game than its sequel however, this game has an upgrade tree, something i didn't learn of throughout my entire play-through, there is an achievement for playing through the entire game without using any upgrades, I got it on accident, if I was told there was an upgrade tree, or even a menu for that matter, I missed it, another problem is the difficulty curve, more accurately, the amount of enemies and how it ramps up ten fold near the end, to the point where the game began to lag for me, I have a fairly decent PC, the game really feels like it was ripped straight from the OG years of VR, because it was, and I'm glad most, if not all of these problems were fixed in the sequel, and even despite these issues, i still really enjoyed the game, it was a very fun experience, and I recommend it completely!

Difficulty
Players who bring up Difficulty mostly praise it.
If you like Half-Life and look for something in the same genre, look no further, this game is a lot of fun and full of creativity, even if it is relatively short (took me about 4 hours to finish on the normal difficulty and I was not rushing through the game).

Audio
Players who bring up Audio mostly praise it.
Audio is equally well crafted, featuring convincing weapon sounds, ambient environmental effects, memorable voice performances, and a soundtrack that shifts naturally between quiet exploration and intense combat sequences.
