Broken Pieces, developed by Elseware Experience in collaboration with Benoît Dereau and Maël Vignaux and published by indie.io, is a moody, atmospheric narrative adventure that immediately stands apart through its haunting depiction of the French coastal village of Saint-Exil.
This mechanic gives the game a surreal, ethereal quality, as though Saint-Exil’s unraveling reality responds directly to Elise’s presence.
The graphics are nice on the eyes and these fine 5 folks did great work on creating a classic-feeling, interconnected world that threads survival horror camera work and 3rd person dread into a world that can both be awe-inspiring and threatening.
Broken Pieces shines brightest in its atmosphere—its quiet coastal shots, fog-draped vistas, and introspective soundtrack create an experience that feels introspective rather than bombastic.
This was an interesting game with a good difficulty level, ultimately undone by a weak ending.
So far the game has promise, codes/puzzles are pretty easy, gameplay is smoothis around 180fps without no lagging or huge fps drops, however when climbing the steps at the lighthouse you get glitched and manytimes you teleport backwards which can be rather horrible.
