Story and characters
Players who bring up Story and characters mostly praise it.
Puzzle Quest CoTW is the origin of RPG match-3 genre and happens to be one of the best of its kind also.

Gameplay
Players who bring up Gameplay mostly praise it.
Plus, I can assure you there is no limits on the gameplay, adding the expansion should extend it more, so expect to spend from 30 to 100+ hours for it.

Also, this works reasonably well on the Steam Deck if you stick with mouse controls.

Monetization
Players who bring up Monetization mostly praise it.
The magic in this first title was never recaptured by its sequels, it spawned so many imitators that the innovation was taken for granted very soon after release, Match 3 x random genre became yet another groan-inducing combo, and now we have Marvel Puzzle Quest which isn't bad but is so mired in the mobile pay to win gacha systems that it loses sight of what made this first title so fun.

Audio
Players who bring up Audio mostly praise it.
Soundtrack and story are mediocre, graphics are alright, but it's a fun game packing a lot of hours.
