What players think
The recurring themes across 267 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
There's a lot of text (that's not a criticism), but the writing varies between decent and coherent (and sometimes funny!)
You have 3 heroes and while all of them look different they are in fact exactly the same in gameplay and mechanics so you can pick the one that looks the best for you and use that one for the most of the game.
Everything is both visually appealing (for its shape and structure; obviously the textures and polygons are semi-retro) and thoughtfully placed for the platforming.
Let me preface this by saying that Analgesic's previous game, Anodyne 2, is in my personal top 5 games of all time, and I still think back to it (and listen to the OST) several years later.
The puzzles are too easy.
Considering that the platforming is very unique it's a testament to the strong design (and no doubt good QA) that I only encountered one progression bug, but thankfully it's one that can be circumvented by using the accessibility features built into the game, and you're unlikely to encounter it yourself.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No themes split opinion in this sample.
No recurring complaints surfaced in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 4 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
