this is a solid game, very old school style difficulty, with a modern touch, such as the use of structured checkpoints (i'm just saying the checkpoints happen often). i can't say much on how optimized it was when it was released, but today, with a 3070 Ti (laptop), i'm getting 300+ FPS at 4K resolution, although the graphics are cartoon style and it's a 2D game so it makes sense. the game is similar to the originals from back in the day. it's got beat'em up combos, mini games (which are fun and challenging), boss fights, and even has a story, voice acting and animated cutscenes. they could easily make a cartoon out of this, i think gen z or gen alpha would appreciate this kind of humor. i will be spending more time playing this game and update my review accordingly.

so the game is pretty old school. people might not like it because it doesn't have a online coop mode, there's only couch coop, so you have to be in the same room to be able to play with your friends. it's hard for me to go back to that retro-style of games cuz i've been spoiled by modern games, but damn, they should've added this feature, considering this game came out in 2020, would've made it a much better game and more fun. but hey, the recent ninja turtles game, now that one comes with online coop. also, the main characters' dialogue could've been better, it feels like they rushed it. the dialogue for all other characters is fine though, it's more tailored towards kids, maybe that's why i wasn't a big fan of it, like it's got that ADHD type dialogue.

Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 3 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
