What players think
The recurring themes across 91 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
- The music and the majority of the sound effects are really nice and I find the graphics aesthetically pleasing, with some great spritework; Overall they really nailed the 90s feel in my opinion
The gameplay in its core is pretty simple: You click start, move, dodge, shoot.
The first thing that came to my mind when playing it is its outstanding quality: The pixel-art graphics are pretty neat and the music is groovy.
Players who prefer a more purist approach can disable the permanent progress and there is even the aptly named New Game Minus achievement that is awarded for beating Hard mode with base stats.
- I really like the customization options in the game - the HUD recoloring is a good example.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway.
