Everhood is a wonderfully strange adventure that blends rhythm-based action, RPG exploration, surreal comedy, and unexpectedly philosophical storytelling into something that feels genuinely different from most games in either genre.

Perhaps it is the extreme idiosyncratic nature of it, perhaps it is the deeply intriguing storyline, mostly however it is a combination of those in addition to some of the most outstanding psychedelic visuals I have ever seen, particularly in the finale sequence, and a killer soundtrack that combines many genres but focuses mostly to being as bangers as possible.

The rhythm battle gameplay is fun, mixing colorful visuals with psychedelic distortions and a bopping electronic soundtrack.

The difficulty curve is very solid and there is a lot of customization, allowing players to tailor the difficulty to their liking, with 5 initial difficulties that adjust max HP and HP regen.

Outside combat, exploration provides breathing room and gives the game much of its personality.
