What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
* **Outstanding Story:** The emotional relationship between Max Payne and Mona Sax gives the game a more personal and tragic tone than the original.
I finished it in just under 5 hours and enjoyed every minute — amazing story, amazing gameplay, and that unmistakable Max Payne atmosphere that’s basically impossible to replicate.
People who love bullet time and clean gunplay.
The graphics are also a massive improvement and hold up better than those of the first.
* **Atmosphere & Sound:** Dark environments, rainy New York streets, and excellent voice acting create an immersive neo-noir experience that still holds up.
Happy to have played it, it played well on the Steam Deck and with a Steam Controller (2015).

Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 3 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
