I played the co-op with a friend of me.
You each play your own colony on the same map and through research you can get a multiplayer trading table, both use the same relax/fun room (although you do have to build your own stuff in it a littlebit because the Beauty rating isn't shared, as said in the game's tooltips.)
AColony is an excellent game that offers a great balance of base building, survival, and colony sim gameplay.
The graphics are well-done and the user interface is easy to navigate.
