What players think
The recurring themes across 181 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
People draw comparison with Crusader Kings, and it's correct to an extent, but I would say the game is even more similar to King of Dragon Pass, because events and narrative sub-plots are the best Star Dynasties has to offer.
The basic gameplay mechanics are, indeed, a turn-based, simplified version of Crusader Kings in space: very abstract combat, character management, trying to acquire claims through subterfuge and marriage... but it doesn't really have a lot to offer, and it's quite annoying in the late game because the interface is unwieldy, information are buried through menus and you get a ton of notifications each turn, for example vassals asking you to deliver justice or inviting you to feasts.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway.
