Creepy music, lonely atmosphere, deadly as heck, (and that does make it fun), and ...while I would not say the graphics are the most advanced graphics I've ever seen, they are quite effective.

And I commend, admire, and deeply thank the developer of this game for not yielding to the demands of the soft many, for staying true to their vision, and for catering to the needs and tastes of admittedly demented niche individuals like me who appreciate, enjoy, and obsess over masterpieces of emergent complexity and narrative generation like Door in the Woods.

What we have here is a gem of a game: asides from the obviously awesome 2.5D ASCII engine, it's packed with great writing, awesome atmosphere that leaves room for imagination, a slick minimalist UI and several mechanics that make choices relevant (eg. inventory management) and runs rewarding even if in the end you'll die in true roguelike fashion.
