This seems like a minor thing, but it actually contributes a lot to the sense of narrative immersion (or whatever) that the best adventure games are able to evoke—the sense that your character is genuinely inhabiting a fictional world, as opposed to just being an avatar for the player to shove against a series of cardboard cutouts until eventually one of them falls over and allows the game to progress.
The graphics is nice.
Solid and original inventory puzzles, often using the same kind of cartoon logic as the games I've mentioned above did.
