FINAL FANTASY VI

What really makes this narrative work so great is the overall message - we won't be around forever and are all destined to die eventually, but what makes life worth living is all the love and joy we experience and share in our day-to-day lives.

Combat is perfected after years of Square working with the ATB system, leveling is well paced with no abrupt difficulty spikes, I ended up grinding a few hours in the early game which also made the late game quite easy but still required some thought as to who was in my party and what abilities to use.

Nobuo Uematsu deserves so much praise for this OST which perfectly fits every scene it's used in and really made the most of the limitations of 16-bit sound hardware.

In the first half of the game, you get a new playable character like every hour, which is pretty overwhelming.

Going in I thought the combat would be dull or not super engaging but using Blitz and all of the character's unique aspects was really fun.

I was very surprised to see the Opera scene recreated with actual 3D visuals which isn't done anywhere else.
