It's got a lot of F.E.A.R. in it (slow mo, lighting, intense gun fx), some Crysis (active camo, ability to grab and throw enemies), some Half Life (narrative-rich story, excellent environmental art), and a touch of Rainbow Six with supply crates that let you trick out your weapons mid-level.

The game looks good and despite that it is optimized extremely well, in contrast to a lot of modern releases being very dysfunctional in those areas - on a 4070 Super and Ryzen 7 3700X, the frames only dipped noticeably in a few areas, and every level and checkpoint takes at most a few seconds to load off of an HDD.

High octane combat requiring you to abuse slo-mo, cloak and line of sight as well as your movement options (like slide jumping) to avoid gunfire and take out the mooks trying to kill you; plus a few spooky segments reminiscent of the latter of the two games.

The game still retains plenty of challenge, though, and on Hard (there's like 6 or 7 difficulty levels and Hard is the 3rd I think) I struck a nice balance between challenge and frustration.

The soundtrack gets a special mention as well, I can only describe it as dark metal with synth, ambience, or chorus pieces mixed in to create a moody yet blood-pumping atmosphere.

The graphics are perhaps my second favourite part of the game, just topped by the story and setting, where it quite genuinely feels and looks like an AA game while being indie.
