The story is good, the visuals are cute and appealing, and I like the little tidbits of Isaac's life dropped here and there; but the actual game part is terribly generic, repetitive, and often laughably broken .

Each character is varied enough to force you to think differently about how you will approach clearing a room, for example Bum-bo the Weird will gain an extra move for every enemy he kills, whereas Bum-bo the Stout gains more mana but loses all of it after his turn is over.
