First off each of the characters you can play as gain experience that allows them to level up.
Space Gladiators is a great roguelite that combines the solid gameplay of Hollow Knight with the amazing roguelite mechanics of Binding of Isaac to create a spectacular experience that I truly think is way too underrated.
I have like 50 hours in the game and one of the main reasons is because the combat is so tight and responsive and Space Gladiators pretty much perfectly emulates the core gameplay of it.
This game offers really fluid movement and combat w/ a very unique hand drawn art style.
The charm of the game comes from the hand-drawn artwork, the mostly ridiculous sound effects, and the ease and fluidity of the controls.
