This narrative experiment marks a turning point in the franchise, not only broadening the scope of its storytelling but also offering a more intricate look into the many facets of Japan’s criminal underground.

Gameplay remains rooted in the series’ signature mix of open-world exploration, street brawling, and side activities, but the addition of four playable characters injects fresh energy into the combat system.

While the core mechanics are still built on the same engine as Yakuza 3, the combat feels smoother and more dynamic in this remaster, with better pacing and responsiveness.

The main thing that I think benefited from having four playable characters was the combat, for the entire game the combat felt balanced, not being too easy or too hard and having it switched up depending on who you're playing made it not get stale.

The game runs smoothly on PC, load times are noticeably improved, and the visuals are sharper without losing the original atmosphere.

Combined with the atmospheric soundtrack—alternating between soulful melodies, tense ambient tracks, and explosive battle themes—the remastered version successfully revives the mood of the original while making it feel sharper and more fluid for modern audiences.
