It can be compared to Binding of Isaac, especially in the items and progression system, still the experience is vastly different, fresh, and well done!
I personally think they should be small extra challenges not game ending so that taking a few on the first levels become a possible strategy to get those sweet rewards.
The multiplayer system is by far one of the strongest parts of the game!

Some really strong platforming fundamentals make for a great casual playthrough, and then there's the co-op which just makes the experience all the better.
