What players think
The recurring themes across 54 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
Although this version looks nice and has the benefit of actually running on my system (a feat that my CD copy of the game just cannot pull off anymore), there is a big difference that makes this version a little too easy for my taste, which is the health and save system.
It's clearly aimed at kids given the design and character audio (and one of the secret enemies is definitely just some ms-paint drawing by a kid), but be warned that this game is surprisingly hard on the most difficult setting.
I have nothing against accessibility and safeguarding against some truly difficult, 90s style gameplay shenanigans, but it would have been nice to also have a gamemode that restores the original game's difficulty.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No recurring complaints surfaced in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway.
