What players think
The recurring themes across 268 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
The addition of rollback netcode is particularly significant, as it allows for smoother and more reliable online matches, making competitive play far more viable than in earlier releases.
The roster is another strong point, bringing together a wide selection of fighters that includes both returning favorites and notable boss characters from earlier entries.
My ONLY critique is that I wish Code Mystics had been able to implement a lobby system for matches so that more than 2 players could get together and play.
The gameplay is fun in that very specific "did their controllers disconnect or is this amazing gameplay" Samurai Shodown way.
Great cast of characters, good soundtrack, and amazing visuals (especially considering this was the last NeoGeo game), you won't regret this purchase; especially considering it uses very good rollback netcode from what I've heard (I don't really play online.)
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
