Lots of solid card and world mechanics, interesting interactions between the different character/weapon/skill archetypes, and just generally I dig the 'Redwall but just more violent' vibes.

Banners of Ruin is a great game as it does most things right: aesthetic, animation, atmosphere, balanced combat, fair mechanics with creative solutions, a diverse roster of playable characters (even without the DLC) and I can go on.

The art is beautiful (the ending!), though personally I'd like playable and NPCs who aren't mammals, but that is just a personal preference.

With all of that said - the character roster is reasonably distinct and satisfying, there's some alright progression options, and a good variety of difficulty modifiers in the "Oaths" system, including some cool tradeoffs to consider that may even benefit your own playstyle.
