Want to play PvP instead of PvE?
While it's definitely playable, it's fairly easy to turn into a slideshow on more intense scenarios.
It's a bit obtuse and janky, but its totally forgivable considering how much replayability it has to offer.
arma by itself is a good game. mods greatly improve the experience, but aren't needed. you can play through bootcamp, and the east wind campaign, from start to finish, without issues, by just playing the vanilla game. you'll have some learning pains having to command the a.i, especially since the east wind campaign forces you to do this (do learn it, not because of the east wind campaign, but because of how useful the a.i can be if you take the time to properly learn it. especially since it'll give you an edge on other players should you ever play PVE multiplayer, or even PVP multiplayer.)
Arma 3: a truly well optimized game where running on low settings and hitting 30 to 40 fps makes you feel like you’ve discovered time travel. ai so smart and realistic it teaches you the true meaning of dying out of nowhere. coop with friends is flawless if your squad doesn’t mind experiencing death every time you reach an objective and develop mild ptsd. a masterpiece for anyone who enjoys patience, mild frustration, and real milsim gun and vehicle physics while your cpu silently cries in the corner. will i ever hit more than 45 to 50 fps on high visuals with an overpowered gpu?
