I found the game to be quite enjoyable, with the simplified graphics allowing for larger and much more complex cities, without impacting performance too hard.
I assume it'll become better optimized over time though as the game is in beta so I can't knock it.
The sense of scale this city builder provides is unprecedented and the gameplay is quite addictive.
