Some weapons are combination of other weapons, which makes the progression of the game feel very satisfying (same goes for equipment and armor)

The combat is really simple, you can attack shoot projectiles/magic, and summon minions/sentries.

You don't realize how important your role is at first but as you play more story unfolds itself through boss fights and exploration, which makes it even better in my opinion.

Once you get to know the game a little, I suggest to at least try to play on Expert Mode (seriously, Expert feels like this is the intended difficulty to experience the game), bump it up to Master Mode for some tough Boss fights, where build and/or game knowledge really do matter sometimes or even go out of your way and throw in the For The Worthy seed.

Terraria's weaponry implements an aspect of fun, weird, and satisfying-ness to it which creates and everlasting enjoyment factor but also a "hook factor" which keeps you locked into the game, waiting to see what there is to uncover using fun textures, animations, and damage capabilities when you push things to the max.

There are many vanity sets and other ways to customize your character, there are many collaborations with other incredible games, there are many easter eggs, there is multiplayer implementations, there's potions, there's an incredible fanbase and community, the game has many game modes, seeds, and so much more that I can't even type them all.
