+Weapons and items feel much better than in 4.1, not much grinding needed, buy what you want
It is a story-driven, third-person, action shooter with smart cutscenes delivering a narrative that advances the plot through consistent voice-acting.
+Character customization is decent and allows you to make your protagonist as cool looking, heroic, sexy,or ridiculous as you wish for him or her to be.
Compared to other EDF games, the visuals in IR are more refined, as well as looking more somber or imposing.
It still is an arcade game at heart but it is closer to a coop RPG than is the case with the other EDF games which tend to be super-cheesy and shallow by comparison.
Most of the voice acting is pretty good, though one of the scientists has an ethnic accent that I think is hokey.
