I'm not sure on the run variety just yet, but it seems like it'll be good the more experience I have with it, and the core gameplay is just so good that I don't know if I care?
Even better, the game not only has its own level editor, but it looks like it even has some level of mod support, since there's a pretty impressive one in progress that adds PS1 X and Zero as playable characters, and replaces a bunch of other sprites and sounds.
Also, I think like 90% of the game can be experienced in co-op?
The biggest and most obvious improvement is the art style change.
The music is great (I've been looping the OST on Spotify for days now), the dynamic music during midbosses is a lovely touch, the arrangements for boss battles and victory themes are great in their own right.
Not to mention the plethora of accessibility options, including a level maker and the ability to “de-rogue” the game if that’s not your cup of tea.
