The game has a decent multiplayer, BUT 1) Couch Coop only lets you play grinding exploration missions, so you can't play through the story or versus matches locally, 2) matchmaking is broken, so you have to use the Join Game option in your friend list, and 3) afaik, at some points during the story progress, you and your friends are forced to clear some of the missions solo before you can continue playing coop.
