Once I shifted my mindset to thinking of each stage as a puzzle to be solved on how to progress, it became a lot more manageable of a game to digest given it's ruthless difficulty.

The graphics are clean, the level design is simple but effective, the soundtrack is.. alright I guess; it's no Genesis banger, but it's at least better'n Super Castlevania's, the bosses are decent for the most part (but the final boss is way too braindead easy for a Genesis game).. it's just a decent game; not as good as Haunted Castle or Rondo of Blood, but certainly better'n the rest

The soundtrack has cemented itself for me as the best in the whole collection (shout-out to the 2nd level calm, yet epic and mysterious music, it's my favourite).
