I give CS:S another shot and, as evidenced in my review for that game, it still stands up as a masterpiece of FPS games.
More recently, Counter-Strike 2’s transition to the Source 2 engine has enhanced visuals, lighting, and physics while maintaining the original’s gameplay integrity.
Absolute classic, and one of the games that made me love multiplayer shooters in the first place.
The graphics look like they were assembled out of leftover cardboard, the animations are stiff, and the sound design is so flat it might as well be placeholder audio that accidentally shipped.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
